Jorge Sales Boyoli

Jorge Sales is one of the most influential labour lawyers in labour matters in Mexico and in the T-MEC region. An expert in negotiation and resolution of labour and union disputes, he has contributed to creating stability and labour peace with a large number of employers in Mexico, the United States and Canada, contributing to the generation of sources of work in trends such as nearshoring and outsourcing (today the provision of specialised services).

Jorge Sales is the lawyer with the most and best knowledge of the Mexican labour market; he has actively participated in strategic union negotiations for Mexico and in the complaints filed by the U.S. governments within the framework of the Rapid Response Mechanism in labour matters; these experiences have made him a reference in labour law and union relations in Mexico and North America. He was the first lawyer to handle a complaint from the U.S. government regarding a contract law and collective bargaining agreement in the pulp and paper industry.

With extensive experience in highly complex labour litigation and a strategic vision in consulting, he is currently managing partner of the firm Sales Boyoli Abogados Laborales, founded more than twenty years ago and positioned as one of the leading firms and the one that best combines a deep knowledge of the Mexican market with experience in labour matters and an excellent positioning with the labour authorities.

Jorge is a former lead partner of the trade union practice at Littler, the world’s largest labour law firm, with international operations involving more than 1,600 lawyers practising in 25 countries. He has been a speaker in a variety of venues, as well as a constant subject of interviews on labour, human resources and time management issues.

He graduated with honours from the Universidad Panamericana Law School and is a specialist in labour law from the same institution. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Human Capital Management.

He is a Member of the Mexican Association of Direct Selling and of the National Association of Corporate Lawyers (ANADE) where he serves as National Coordinator of Committees and Member of the National Board of Directors; in said Bar Association he coordinated the National Committee of Labour Law, and has also been President of the Technical Committee of Human Capital of the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF).

Sales Boyoli has successfully negotiated collective bargaining agreements and salary revisions with virtually all major unions in Mexico.

Jorge has specialised in advising national and international digital platforms on sensitive issues such as labour classification and unionisation of employees. He is the first lawyer in Mexico to obtain a favourable labour resolution in the claims of employees of digital platforms. He is an obligatory reference in labour and human capital issues both in Mexico and in the United States.
